While there are a variety of professional treatments available (including teeth whitening, dentures, and more), one of the most popular, effective, and efficient solutions to helping you achieve that beautiful smile that you’ve always wanted in record time is dental veneers.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a thin shell of porcelain material (about the thickness of a contact lens) that is permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. In addition to veneers providing you with an instantly brighter smile, they can also be shaped and molded to fit the natural contours of your face, adding symmetry and beauty to your overall look.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  • Natural-looking appearance
  • Stain-resistant qualities
  • Durable and long lasting
  • Self-esteem and self-confidence booster
  • Easy, quick, and painless procedure

What Is the Procedure for Applying Porcelain Veneers?

You’ll be glad to know that the porcelain veneering process can be applied to a single tooth or several teeth in one procedure. Feel free to share with the dentist the goals you want to achieve with your porcelain veneers. Our experienced dental team will ensure that veneers are the right choice for your unique needs as well as take X-rays if needed. Impressions may also be taken of the teeth and mouth to ensure a proper fitting.

Preparing for Porcelain Veneers

The dentist will remove about ½ of a millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is roughly the thickness of the veneer to be applied. A local anesthetic will be used to numb the area. Next, the dentist will make an impression of the tooth. The impression is then sent out to a dental lab which constructs the actual veneer. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for the veneers to be completed and returned to our office. For an additional cost, temporary veneers can also be placed to cover particularly stained teeth.

Porcelain Veneers Recovery

After the veneers are returned, the dentist will examine them to determine accurate placement before they are permanently bonded to your teeth. Veneers do not require any specific or special care outside of normal oral hygiene. Although porcelain resists stains, some foods, such as coffee, tea, or red wine may still cause staining and should be avoided.

How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?

Because porcelain veneers are a cosmetic enhancement, they may not be fully covered by dental insurance. Fortunately, Choice One Dental Care® works with financing companies like CareCredit®. CareCredit® makes it easy and affordable for you to enjoy the smile of your dreams!

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?

As long as you have teeth in place for veneers to be placed over, you are a possible candidate for porcelain veneers. Our cosmetic dentists will sit down with you and determine the look you want to achieve and create a game plan moving forward.

The most common reasons people decide to choose porcelain veneers to enhance their smile are due to one or more of the following:

  • Multiple chipped teeth
  • Dark teeth from years of smoking or coffee stains
  • Teeth that are ground, uneven, or appear to have been worn down over time

If we agree that porcelain veneers are the best solution to receive the results you are looking for, then we will move on to the next steps.
